God and man

Yes I seem to have a started a novel in which I have finished in terms of plot and characters but I can’t get over the staleness of the plot. It seems readers feel more interested in the writing than in the story itself. That is a very bad sign. So I think a great deal of what would make it a compelling tale.

So here is the deal. I have a protagonist who feels a sorts of emotions. There is a direction to the events. He finds himself torn in the struggle for life and death and can’t stop himself from fighting in life and yet nothingness is his biggest wish which gives him license to avoid being upstanding. My best description of him “He will do right… eventually” I suppose the general feeling I have work is that I am not taking big enough risks to engender conflict.
